On the way to Hawaii!!

I am sitting in the airport waiting to board a flight to L.A. I have about a five hour layover there, and I am planning on using the time to go to lunch with my cousin, then it is off to Honolulu. This vacation has been planned for some time, and it is hard to believe that it is here. I am looking forward to spending time with my family I have not seen any of them for about three months now…. There is now about an hour of my flight left. I have spent most of my time reading a book by Orson Scott Card called Xenocide (I recommend it, but first you should read Enders Game and Speaker for the Dead. I should start a list of recommended books, I think I will in fact, these three are the first on my list). Now of course I am typing, and though I am talented enough to listen to foo fighters while I do it—My Hero at the moment—I am not talented enough to read the book and type at the same time. Though this information may be irrelevant to you, and though you may not care, this blog is a space for my thoughts however mundane or insightful they are, and I don’t care if my thoughts bore you.—the song has changed to Times like these....pause to take a picture out the window.... It is nice sometimes to see the tops of the clouds, it is amazing what God has made us capable of, I love to fly, I hope to be a pilot some day, I can’t help but wishing I had more control over the experience.—Best of you—sometimes I think that flying would free me, not just flying but any number of experiences that take me away from the things that are so easy to consider mediocre in life, then I think of how much happier I would be if I found as much pleasure in everyday life. Not an easy task to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, and yet the happiest people I know enjoy so many small things. I guess you could say I am in conflict. One small thing I have learned to take pleasure in is food, not just the consumption of it, but it’s preparation as well (I had a marvelous salad last night—two in the morning actually—it was delectable). It was one of those good nights, just before driving to make and consume the salad James and I had watched a movie, and then enjoyed a great talk in perfect weather in a parking lot in St. Louis. It was one of those moments that of its own right should have been nothing special, but will nevertheless remain in my mind, and will be thought of with fondness, it was just so good!—Another round (good song). Needless to say, I am glad to be alive. I am on the plain now to Honolulu, I had a good visit with my cousin. We went to in and out, and drove around for a while, it was fun, I must say, I have just about the best family I could hope for, I am very blessed—Big Me—(once again I am listening to music).
